It's done! I finished the book. So proud of it and super excited to share it with you.
While I'm not suggesting that writing a book is all consuming, it's pretty much a year long project from start to finish. One that you are not working on every single day during that span of time, but one that you are certainly always thinking about. It takes up a big slot and high priority in your mind, and project list. Me and my love of creating a piece from start to finish in one day - I'm not used to long and involved projects. Writing a book, for me, was a big adjustment. For this reason it's only a mild exaggeration to say that, upon it's completion I had a moment of feeling like I had just been given a new life. What will I do next?! {with all my free time :)}
The first thing I'm going to do with that new life, even though I have at least eight months of things I want to share with you - is take a break.
Seems to be a movement to be spreading across the internet, various versions of - an August Break. I love when people take care of themselves and take time off, to be creative and to enjoy their holidays and vacations. It always gives the rest of us permission to do so too.
As it also turns out my family from Germany, always much better about taking {long} vacations especially in August - happens to be visiting this month, on their second trip ever to the United States.
Ok, then. A break it is. I'm off to visit with my family, travel, re-group, take naps, get inspired and excited thinking about all the new creative projects I get to explore. I will never be bored in this life, and that is all.
First stop, Northern California, a visit to Liz and Rob - which included a great day of conversation over coffee and Whole Foods baked goods, relaxing in their garden and admiring their awesome turquoise trim.
